Bill Maher = Douche

Does anyone actually like this guy? While we have boy-scout John Kerry running around trying to shut up the Tea Party, we have this guy going around thrashing an organized religion, and nobody says anything?!

...Mormons are not really Christians. You know, once America, which is a very Christian nation, finds that out, I think they’ll have a, certainly in the Evangelical part of the country, those folks, they will not be very fond of Mitt Romney.
Once they find out that Jesus Christ is like third in the hierarchy there. Really was about Joseph Smith. Actually, Mormonism is closer to Islam because in Islam Jesus is also a revered figure. He’s a wonderful prophet. He’s just not the ultimate prophet. You know, he’s like the middle act. He’s certainly not the headliner.”

Mormons, for all the other things that set us apart, believe first and foremost that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer...

Instead of listening to the village idiot, go to the Mormon webpage if you actually doubt they believe in Jesus. I'm not a member of the Church, nor am I the biggest fan, but I do believe that the Mormon church is a Christian church. I know many, many members, most of which are some of the most honest and genuine people I know. This guy makes me sick to my stomach.

Thank You John Kerry

Thank you John Kerry. Yet again you have reminded America why you lost in 2004. His latest little crybaby act? He wants the media to stop giving conservatives air time. Seriously. You know, silence the opposition sort of thing. We haven't seen that before!

During a discussion of the debt deal and the economy on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Friday, the current Massachusetts senator and former presidential candidate lambasted the Tea Party and conservatives and the idea that they should be given “equal time” in the media. According to him, their ideas are so whacky that they don’t deserve air time...

Here's the deal. I'm not going to throw around words like facisism, socialism, what have you and give him the benefit of the doubt. But come on Senator, I hate Bill Maher, Keith Olbermann, and those winches on Morning Joe, but I don't think they need to be shut up. I don't think you, Mr. Senator, needs to be shut up (maybe fired next election, but I digress). Heck, I don't even think The One needs to be shut up, and he's the king of the airwaves!

Yet another example of what's wrong with politicians today.

Feel Good Friday 8/5/2011 Part 2

This was such a touchy story I had to share it as well. As a sportsman, I take conservation and preservation very seriously. I find it amazing that people came together and saved this brave little guy. Survivor's got nothing on this turtle!

JUNO BEACH, Fla. (AP) — A badly injured sea turtle that underwent a year of rehabilitation and innovative surgeries was released Wednesday by caretakers hoping he finds a mate and helps his endangered species prosper.

Andre, as the 177-pound green sea turtle is known, crawled into the water and swam out of sight before a crowd of hundreds of raucous supporters. He was near death when he was found split open and stranded last year.

“He has overcome obstacles, predators, food scarcities, cold winters – any number of things that may have ended his life – and he has survived,” said Dr. Nancy Mettee, a veterinarian at Loggerhead Marinelife Center who cared for Andre. “He’s really a miracle turtle.”

When Andre was found stranded on a sandbar on June 15, 2010, he had gaping holes in his shell, the result of two apparent boat strikes. More than three pounds of sand were inside him, along with at least a couple of crabs, a raging infection and a collapsed lung. His spinal cord was exposed, pneumonia was plaguing him and death seemed certain.

Any one of those injuries could have killed him, but his flippers were working and his neurological function appeared normal. So after beachgoers pulled him ashore on a boogie board, veterinarians began what became a yearlong effort to save him.

To help remove fluid and other materials and close his wounds, doctors used a vacuum therapy system. To help close gashes in the shell, Dr. Alberto Vargas, a local orthodontist, installed braces similar to those used on humans. And to fill in the gaping holes, doctors employed a procedure typically used to help regrow breast tissue in mastectomy patients and abdominal tissue in hernia patients.

All are believed to be animal firsts, and Andre’s supporters say the herculean effort was worth it.

Green sea turtles have persisted since prehistoric times, but are endangered today. Only a small fraction of hatchlings survive and even fewer go on to reach adulthood and reproduce.

Andre is believed to be about 25 years old. The hope is that he will swim off, mate often and help his species survive.

“Go out and live long and prosper and have lots of babies,” said Aaron Lichtig, a 40-year-old science teacher who was among those who first spotted the turtle and brought him to shore.

On Wednesday, Lichtig was among hundreds cheering the turtle on as he was loaded into an all-terrain vehicle, driven to the beach, set unto the sand and then turned loose to amble into the Atlantic. He hesitated at first, but was helped closer to the water by volunteers.

A moment later, he disappeared below the surface, only to pop his head up a few more times, delighting the crowd.

“It’s just an inspiration,” said one volunteer, 17-year-old Kelly Griffith, who wiped tears from her eyes. “Every turtle is special, but he captures hearts.”

Mettee could not bring herself to attend Andre’s release, calling it a bittersweet moment. She knows he could have been kept safe under her care and she fears what he could face in the wild, yet she knows he had to be set free. But after all these months of caring for him, she grew to know his every quirk, including the way he’d crane his neck to look when she was working on him.

“If it’s possible that an animal could know that we were trying to help I think that he did,” she said.

Andre’s survival has inspired fans across the world who heard his story or watched his round-the-clock webcam. More than 200 people from 25 different states and a handful of foreign countries sent in checks to be honorary adoptive parents. Children flooded him with mail, often addressed simply to “Andre the Turtle.”

The cards and notes were tacked by the dozens to a wall alongside an outdoor grouping of turtle pools at the Loggerhead Marinelife Center, where some 225,000 visitors come each year.

One child’s simple words summed up the thoughts of many who came to wish the turtle well: “Good luck, have a safe trip.”

This is so cool... U.S. Soldiers’ Lives Saved by a Toy Truck

On duty for his country in Afghanistan, U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Christopher Fessenden enjoys a unique hobby: driving a radio-controlled model truck his brother Ernie sent him. But with a little Army know-how, this hobby turned into much more recently when it saved six soldiers’ lives.

The little truck was used by the troops to run ahead of them on patrols and look for roadside bombs. Fessenden has had it since 2007, when Ernie and Kevin Guy, the owner of the Everything Hobby shop in Rochester, rigged it with a wireless video camera and shipped it to him.

Last week, it paid off. Chris Fessenden said he had loaned the truck to a group of fellow soldiers, who used it to check the road ahead of them on a patrol. It got tangled in a trip wire connected to what Fessenden guesses could have been 500 lbs. of explosives. The bomb went off. The six soldiers controlling the truck from their Humvee were unhurt.

$535 Fine For Saving a Bird?

UPDATE: From MSNBC.com <---you don't see that source on here very much!
“The citation is null and void,” U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service spokesman Bill Butcher told msnbc.com on Tuesday. “We’ve rescinded it.”
“They [the agent and state trooper] had gone to inquire about the health of the woodpecker,” Butcher said. “At that point, they determined that no further action was necessary.”
Despite this, Butcher said, the citation was processed unintentionally. He added that the agency has apologized to Capo and will send her a formal letter explaining the clerical error.

An 11 year old girl did what most 11 year old aspiring veterinarian would do when they see a baby bird about to be lunch for a cat, she saves it. Well from that alone you'd think this story is more appropriate for Feel Good Friday, right? Think again. After news traveled about the "touching" story, the state got involved and slapped a $535 ticket and possible jail time on the mom. And people wonder why I'm so anti-big-government...

Glenn Beck Commentary Why the Debt Deal is Bad News

Don’t be fooled. We’ve just been betrayed by Washington.

A deal on the debt ceiling is near and Washington still hasn’t gotten serious about the fundamentals. It hasn’t gotten serious about default. It certainly hasn’t gotten serious about the future. When Harry Reid hails a “bipartisan compromise” you know we’re doomed.

Republicans and Democrats have just negotiated away the future of our children behind closed doors. The big compromise on Capitol Hill features elaborate triggers, tranches, Hornswogglers, Snozzwangers, Super Duper Commissions that will make the Snozzberries taste like Snozeberries, and a whole bunch of other convoluted gibberish that will, no doubt, come with loopholes and create entire new bureaucracies. What it doesn’t do is fix the problem.

The fact is Moody’s has already warned us that no one has put a plan on the table that comes close to solving our long-term problem. Moody’s will downgrade us. This could happen tomorrow, in six months or maybe a year from now, but at some point in the near future it’s
going to happen. And it’s going to hurt. So we must be prepared.

Imagine your credit card’s interest rates constantly rising. Imagine high inflation eating away at your savings accounts, retirement funds and salary — if you’re lucky enough to have one these days. Imagine the interest rate on your mortgage rising and compounding until there was no hope of escaping debt. Imagine that fewer and fewer people are willing to lend you any money as your credit rating takes a dive.

Now imagine we’re talking about 15, 25, 100 trillion dollars and your Medicare, Social Security and Treasury bonds.

Those tanks and missiles Republicans say we need? No more. Those food stamps and green-energy boondoggles Democrats say we can’t live without? Forget it. We won’t be able to afford them. It won’t matter how many prime time speeches the president gives or how dangerous the
world gets. The unsustainable cost of irresponsible governance mean everyone loses.

And by everyone, I mean the whole world.

Remember the saying: as Greece goes so goes the world? The United States economy constitutes around 25 percent of the world’s GDP. What happens to global economy when we default? Everyone will feel it. After all, who’s going to send billions in weapons to Egypt’s military regime to help it quell the “democratic” Arab street when we can’t even pay the janitors at the IRS office space?

So what is the point of all the drama in Washington? As best as I can tell most politicians are scared stiff that they might have to have a substantive debate about the debt ceiling during the election season. Other than that, we’re back where we started.

For one, any promise of future cuts is as about as rock solid as a politician’s word. Experience has taught us every year some “unprecedented” emergency will require us to spend hundreds of
billions, if not trillions, we don’t have to “fix.” Mark my words, the war (I’m sorry … “kinetic military action”) that no one even understands in Libya will expand and then all the promises forgotten.

It’s true that seven or eight months ago Democrats were still saying we needed another stimulus package and calling for new spending. Now, we’re not just talking about whether to cut but about how much to cut. And it’s great news that Washington has made significant progress in moving the Balanced Budget Amendment — the only real and lasting solution to this crisis. Nevertheless, the fact remains that this deal raises the debt limit by about $2.5 trillion dollars without making substantial and immediate cuts.

Congressman Jason Chaffetz, in fact, explained that the first year of spending cut is $7 billion and when you consider that we deficit spend $4 billion a day, the real savings in the first year of this deal covers only two days of spending.

Promises mean nothing in Washington. We need genuine, transformational reform and real spending cuts today, not a strategic Republican victory. The time for political expediency is over.

Isn’t it curious that when Democrats wanted to push through a $1 trillion stimulus plan that enriched every social engineering project in the country they got it done? Isn’t it amazing that Democrats had the willpower to ram through health unpopular Obamacare which changed
our entire health care system without any compromise whatsoever?

Why can’t Republicans find a similar backbone? Why can’t they fight for the people who elected them? Are you telling me they can’t find significant waste and fraud in the Federal government right now?

The answer is simple.

You cannot spend more than you earn. You cannot run up the largest credit card bill in human history. You want more revenue? Stop chasing income earners overseas by threatening them with higher taxes, stop inflating their energy costs and stop punishing them with never-ending regulations. Mr President, put down your socialist mop! Stop with the Cloward and Piven floor wax.

And then balance the budget, cut back the spending and reform entitlements.

Marco Rubio

It's long, but well worth the watch. Sen. Rubio (R-Florida) uses clear undeniable facts. Sen. Kerry (D-Massachusetts) tries and fails to refute him. My favorite part?

The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better. I, therefore, intend to oppose the effort to increase America’s debt.” A quote from a tea party extremist, right? No. This is a quote from March 16 of 2006 from Senator Barack Obama of Illinois.

I found another extremist quote. This one says, “Because this massive of accumulation of debt was predicted, because it was foreseeable, because it was unnecessary, because it was the result of willful and reckless disregard for the warnings that were given and for the fundamentals of economic management, I am voting against a debt limit increase.” Well, that must be from a tea party extremist member of the House, right? No. This is March 16, 2006, from Senator Joe Biden of Delaware.

The video is a clear indicator of why we are split right now. I haven't fact checked his numbers, but if they are right, it's a scary thing indeed. Watch the video and share your thoughts.
